|
With 32% of fires on boats occurring from electrical problems and a host of other factors such as fuel and engine problems, it is important that you identify who is at risk when on board your boat. As the boat owner or sole person in control, it is your responsibility to ensure everyone is safe on board.
Many hazards on your boat may affect: your crew members who are on board and working with you, family and friends if your boat is used for personal use, passers by whilst the boat is moored as well as other people on boats while out on the water. |

Identify potential risks on board
There are many risks that as the boat owner you must address |
|
There are many risks that you can be potentially faced with while on your boat. Many of these risks could cause fire/damage or put you and your passengers and staff at risk as well.
Many risks include: is the engine all working correctly? If there is a problem with your engine it could potentially catch fire causing significant damage to the boat. Are there any electrical devices on show? Should these make contact with water they could catch on fire.
Many risks which could cause harm to you and your passengers may include: is there a risk of tripping or falling when moving to and from the boat? Are ropes in good condition and are they tied to the boat securely? You will also need to make sure that they are not causing any tripping issues.
